Spectrum customers report internet outage in Redding area

Multiple spectrum customers in the Redding area are reporting internet outages Thursday night.
The outage seemed to begin around 8:30 p.m.
An automated Spectrum customer service line gave the following message:
"Spectrum customers in your area are currently experiencing an internet, video and phone service outage. Technicians are working to restore your services as quickly as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience."
A message from a reporter to a Spectrum support team social media account had not been answered as of 9:15 p.m.

On Facebook, a post about the outage generated more than 60 comments from people reporting a lack of internet, including some who lived in Anderson, Cottonwood, Shasta Lake and Red Bluff.
It is not known what caused the outage or when services are expected to be restored.
On Aug. 26, Spectrum internet service in Redding was down for more than six hours starting at 1:30 a.m., reportedly due to a damaged fiber optic cable.
