COVID-19 on Treasure Coast: What you need to know Wednesday, Sept. 16

The Florida Department of Health reported six newly-recorded COVID-19 deaths and 45 new cases Wednesday.
The six new deaths bring the total death toll on the Treasure Coast to 498. According to Department of Health data, three new deaths were reported in St. Lucie County, two in Martin County and one in Indian River County.
The total number of cases on the Treasure Coast increased by 45 to 15,285.

Health officials have said the virus is not necessarily the cause of death, but they record people who at some point tested positive for the virus and later die.
