COVID-19 on Treasure Coast: What you need to know Thursday, Sept. 24

The Florida Department of Health reported 76 new COVID-19 cases and three new deaths Thursday.

The total number of cases on the Treasure Coast increased to 15,887. The cumulative death toll increased to 527. Two new deaths were reported in St. Lucie County and one new death was reported in Martin County. There were no new deaths reported in Indian River County.

Health officials have said the virus is not necessarily the cause of death, but they record people who at some point tested positive for the virus and later die.
