COVID-19 on Treasure Coast: What you need to know Thursday, Sept. 17

The Florida Department of Health reported two newly-recorded COVID-19 deaths and 140 new cases Thursday.

The two new deaths bring the total death toll on the Treasure Coast to 500. According to Department of Health data, one new death was reported in both Martin and Indian River counties.

The total number of cases on the Treasure Coast increased by 140 to 15,375.

Health officials have said the virus is not necessarily the cause of death, but they record people who at some point tested positive for the virus and later die.
